Bit early for an April Fool’s joke, isn’t it?
Well, unfortunately this isn’t one. According to the Telegraph, the reigning champions of England, who recently recorded a club-record turnover, who also happen to be owned by a Russian billionaire, have made an inquiry for 36-year-old Stoke City striker Peter Crouch.
The Blues appear to be in the market for a new centre-forward. Michy Batshuayi clearly does not have the full trust of manager Antonio Conte, whereas Alvaro Morata has missed opportunity after opportunity in recent weeks.
But Crouch? REALLY?!?
The Telegraph believe that after moving on from the disappointment of missing out on Fernando Llorente in the summer, Chelsea have considered moves for Andy Carroll, Christian Benteke and now Crouch. The club do not appear to be prepared to match the ambition of our counterparts.
