Chelsea are preparing to make a £20million summer move for Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi, according to the Mirror.
The Mirror report that, despite Chelsea’s success this term, Antonio Conte knows he needs to strengthen his squad for life in the Champions League. The tabloid believe that Conte could make a £20million move to secure Berardi’s services to further his options in attack.
According to the Mirror, Juventus, Berardi’s former employers, negotiated a £15million buy-back clause into the deal that took the Italian to Sassuolo. That would likely give them the advantage in the race to sign Berardi, but it remains to be seen whether Massimiliano Allegri would be keen to take the 22-year-old back to Turin.
Berardi has been in fine form so far this campaign, directly contributing to ten Serie A goals, having bagged four goals and provided six assists for his teammates. The Mirror believe that his good form has caught the eye of Conte, and he could be set to make his move.
