Chelsea are set to make a mammoth bid for Southampton centre-back Virgil Van Dijk, according to Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Van Dijk established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League last season, before his stellar campaign was derailed by a serious ankle injury.
His aerial prowess and classy distribution from the Saints’ back-line has seen him rise head and shoulders above many of his defensive counterparts, and his good performances at St. Mary’s do not appear to have gone unnoticed.
As per Di Marzio, Van Dijk is top of Antonio Conte’s wish-list this summer. The Italian reporter believe that the Netherlands international is edging ever closer to a move to Stamford Bridge, with the Premier League champions prepared to part with a whopping £60M in order to secure his signature.
Di Marzio notes that Liverpool also hold an interest in Van Dijk, but it looks as though Chelsea are now in pole position to sign him this summer.
