Fake narrative? I’m sorry, but there’s things that some people say that really grind me. It’s absolutely NOT fake to say Cole Palmer has not been in his best form this season. For me, anyone who knows football can see that we have not seen the best Cole Palmer this season, there is nothing about saying that that is fake. Please!
McFarlane went on to say that Palmer is a ‘top, top player’, which is something we can ALL agree on. But to say that he is NOT out of form is just incorrect in my opinion and it is YOU who has the ‘fake’ narrative on this. I bet even Cole himself will tell you he’s not been at his best.
Just look at his first season at the club. Palmer basically carried this team through an entire season, and if it wasn’t for him then things would have gotten really bad. Remember the whole Cole Palmer FC thing? They weren’t saying that for no reason, Palmer was that good. Nobody can tell me that he is now still playing to that level and having that same effect, not one person. So yes, Palmer is not in his best form and has been inconsistent, and it’s completely fine to admit that.
I wouldn’t expect McFarlane to admit it, but to say it’s a fake narrative thinking Palmer has not been at his best lately is just taking it too far. There’s protecting your players, then there’s delusion.
There will be many reasons for Palmer’s form not being at it’s best. One of them is the injuries he has been playing through. He’s been playing with regular pain. That of course will effect him. There hasn’t been a good feel around the club once again this season, so that effects form too. Many things, many reasons. It doesn’t mean he’s become a bad player, and we all know how important he is to our team and is a superb player on his day, whilst also acknowledging he hasn’t quite been at it lately. There’s nothing wrong with pointing all of the above out either, it’s just calling it as we see it. Realism.
