Chelsea are closing in on sealing a deal to sign former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko from AS Roma, according to The Sun.
When you consider the calibre of some of the players we’ve been linked with in recent weeks, Dzeko stands out head and shoulders above the rest. Not only is he a proven performer in the Premier League, having won two league titles during his time at the Etihad, but he also scored 39 goals in all competitions last term.
With Michy Batshuayi lacking the full trust of manager Antonio Conte and Alvaro Morata firing blanks, Dzeko may well be the solution to Chelsea’s goal-scoring woes. If The Sun are to be believed, he could soon be on his way to Stamford Bridge.
The Sun report that a £28M initial fee has been agreed between Chelsea and AS Roma. All that is left to sort out is the add-ons and Dzeko will be a Chelsea player. Great news!
