Juventus have rejected a mega-money bid from Chelsea for striker Gonzalo Higuain, report Calciomercato.
As per Calciomercato, Antonio Conte is stepping up his efforts to sign a new centre-forward, after his side missed out on Belgium international Romelu Lukaku to Premier League counterparts Manchester United.
The Italian outlet believe that the Blues also pursued Real Madrid hitman Alvaro Morata, but their attempts to prise the Spaniard away from Los Blancos hit brick wall.
There is now a new name in the equation, and it’s likely to raise more than a few eyebrows. Calciomercato cite Italian-based newspaper Tuttosport, who believe that Chelsea offered £88M in exchange for Juve’s Higuain, but that offer was swiftly turned down by ‘The Old Lady’.
Higuain is widely considered one of the best strikers in the world, and would undoubtedly be a quality addition to Conte’s side. It seems unlikely that he will be a Chelsea player come the end of the transfer window, though. In fact, it’s probably more likely that Conte fields himself up top.
