Chelsea need to do everything in their power to sign Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid this summer. Not just because he’s a composed and classy midfielder, but he appears keen to take the p*** out of Liverpool at every possibility opportunity.
You know the story, Real Madrid won their third Champions League in a row in Kiev after defeating Liverpool 3-1. They had Loris Karius to thank on the night, rather than their own brilliance (barring match-winner Gareth Bale), but that hasn’t stopped them twisting the knife following the game.
Croatia international Kovacic, alongside compatriot Luka Modric and Brazil left-back Marcelo, were pictured at Anfield ahead of their World Cup warm-up friendly on Sunday afternoon.
Now, there’s no indication that they’re mocking Liverpool here, other than the fact that they’re stood laughing with each other in front of a great-big Liverpool badge. We respect it, even adore it, we aim to replicate it. Like a piece of art by Picasso himself.
