Chelsea have reportedly rejected a bid from Arsenal for centre-back David Luiz.
Luiz’s future at Chelsea is hanging in the balance. After a season marred by injury, his stock has fallen at Stamford Bridge. His relationship with manager Antonio Conte is at breaking point, with some reports suggesting that he will only remain with the Blues if the Italian departs this summer.
Despite the question marks surrounding his future, the sheer audacity of Arsenal to believe they have even the faintest hope of poaching Luiz from us is, quite frankly, hilarious.
According to French publication Le10Sport, Arsenal submitted a £17.6M bid for the 31-year-old. The offer was, of course, rejected. To even entertain the idea of allowing him to depart, any potential suitor would surely have to double that bid.
Luiz has proven his quality. He’s proven he can perform at the highest level, on the biggest occasions. We’re incredible excited to see what Maurizio Sarri would do with him. Here’s hoping that he decides to stay put.
But then again.. he is 31 and is having fitness/injury issues.
