Brazilian publication UOL claim that David Luiz is undecided whether or not to stay at Chelsea next season amid interest from Napoli.
Luiz spent the majority of the 2017/18 campaign sidelined through injury. It’s unclear whether he’d have been involved even if fit, with reports claiming that he had fallen out with manager Antonio Conte.
UOL note that Luiz is unlikely to remain at Stamford Bridge if Conte stays on as Chelsea boss next season. The Brazilian does not want to leave, but he accepts that he cannot work alongside Conte any longer.
The report claims that Luiz’s representatives have been in contact with four clubs in recent weeks, but Napoli’s offer is thought to have been the most enticing.
We’d be excited to see how Maurizio Sarri utilised Luiz’s distribution from the back. If Sarri is appointed, his first port of call should be to repair the damage done by his predecessor and ensure that Luiz stays put.
