Chelsea increase bid for Maurizio Sarri target to €40M, reports in Italy claim

Chelsea have reportedly increased their offer for Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani.

The Blues’ interest in signing Rugani has come out of virtually nowhere. That suggests that it’s a case of Maurizio Sarri informing the club of his transfer targets, rather than Chelsea making moves for players they have been tracking themselves.

Chelsea do not need to pursue another centre-back this summer, we have plenty of options in that position. However, Sarri worked alongside Rugani during his time at Empoli, and appears keen on reuniting with his compatriot this summer.

The Gazzetta claim that following an initial rejection from Juventus, Chelsea have now improved the terms of their offer to the Serie A side for Rugani. It’s believed that our offer has been increased to €40M.

We’d like to think that’ll be enough to satisfy Juventus and prise Rugani away from Turin. Let’s hope we can get this deal signed and sealed before the start of our pre-season campaign.
