Chelsea have received a major boost in our reported pursuit of Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The Bosnian is one player that we didn’t expect to be linked with this summer. He’s one of the best players in his position anywhere in the world, so it would be unlikely he’d accept a season outside of the Champions League.

Pjanic has no reason to leave Juventus, as far as we an tell, and the Serie A giants will certainly be in no rush to part with him. Despite that, it hasn’t stopped us including him in our list of potential transfer targets.

According to the Daily Star, Chelsea are keen on signing the 28-year-old, and main competitors Barcelona appear to have now exited the race to secure his signature this summer.

Barca sporting director Ariedo Braida is quoted by the Daily Star essentially confirming that Barcelona will not be pursuing Pjanic during the current transfer window:

“There is no negotiation. It does not seem to me that we are interested in the Bosnian playmaker.”

“The player is good, but here we have a Brazilian who will take that role because Barcelona wants that.”

Your move, Chelsea…
