Chelsea interested in signing Spain international, player has ‘stratospheric’ buyout clause

Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez, but we’re not alone in the race to sign the Spaniard.

Come the end of 2018, both Pedro and Willian will be the wrong side of 30. The latter may not even be at the club when the next season kicks off, with both Barcelona and Manchester United thought to be interested in signing him.

At 27-years-old, Vasquez may need a move away from Real Madrid in order to find regular first-team football while he’s still in his prime. According to Marca, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are all interested in signing him this summer.

Marca believe Vasquez has a ‘stratospheric’ buyout clause in his Real Madrid contract. It would be unwise for Chelsea to pay over the odds for him this summer. We ought to look elsewhere.

Vasquez has never scored more than four goals in a top-flight season in his professional career. We need to recruit someone more productive than Willian and Pedro. Vasquez isn’t that player.
