Jorginho has been near flawless for Chelsea since signing in the summer, but a mistake he made against Everton may well have lasting consequences.
You know the story, we stole the Italian from under the nose of Manchester City and reunited him with newly-appointed manager Maurizio Sarri. He eased Sarri’s transition into life at Stamford Bridge, and has been one of the players of the season so far.
Jorginho didn’t have his best game against Everton and was (unusually) hooked off with some time left on the clock, with Cesc Fabregas coming on in his place.
One potential reason for the substitution was that Jorginho was on a yellow card. A yellow card which he picked up for an awful scissor tackle on Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson in the first-half of the contest.
This tackle from Jorginho should’ve been a straight red. Got a yellow. Systematic fouling from Chelsea and they just get away with it! pic.twitter.com/w6vknq7f8X

Sigurdsson looked hurt at the time, and it looks as though there’ll be lasting effect for the Iceland international. He was pictured leaving the Bridge with his foot in a cast. (Image via The Sun)
We don’t like to see players getting injured. Especially from horrible tackles from our own players. We wish Sigurdsson well and hope that the damage done is nothing too serious.
