Chelsea are into the final few games of what has turned into a quite exceptional season, and we’re just so excited.
After a fun start followed by a terrible slump in the middle, we’ve been witness to a quite astonishing final few months of the season since Thomas Tuchel took over.
The former PSG coach swept in and turned the whole campaign around, and he has quite rightly been the focus of a huge amount of praise for the many ways in which he’s improved this team.
But what of his charges, the players? Which of them have had the most outstanding seasons, and which will be our player of the season?
There are just so many good candidates after this incredible run, and if you were going to use your uk promotion codes to get a big free bet on the winner, you’d struggle to pick a favourite?
Ok, maybe Mason Mount does have a nose ahead of everyone else. Some would say he deserved the award last year, and so that will feed into it a little. He’s been even better this year, scoring crucial goals on all fronts and performing with astonishing consistency.
The fact that he’s home grown only adds to the argument for him, representing as he does the transition to this new youth based team.
Close behind him would have to be N’Golo Kante. Injuries have meant that the France star hasn’t played as much as Mount, and maybe hasn’t had as many top games – but when he’s been good he’s been breathtaking. We might have made it to the Champions League final without Mount, but we wouldn’t without Kante, that is for sure.
After Kante, there are a crowd of players who have brilliant seasons, and will only miss out on this award because their peers have done even better. Every singe one of our defenders can say they had a great season, the wing backs performed when called upon, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic took their game up a level….
Our attackers struggled at times, but every one of them has a crucial goal or two to look back on.
In fact, there is almost nobody in the squad who will feel they haven’t contributed. Even Billy Gilmour, left on the bench for most of the season, has stepped up and started in our last two Premier League games, helping us to two wins at a vital moment.
Almost any player in this squad would be a worthy recipient.
Mason Mount has my vote, Kante and Kova have been excellent so has our defence but Mason has been world class
