Chelsea’s star players make final moves to earn World Cup spots

Chelsea made it through the October international break without any significant new problems, and have returned to action with two wins in a row.

Up next there are some very winnable games. We’ve got Sunderland this weekend, followed by Wolves in the EFL Cup next Wednesday.

Next weekend comes Spurs, which is actually not as hard as it sounds given they’re not in great form, especially at home, in recent weeks. we follow that with a trip to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag.

We then have a repeat against Wolves, this time in the Premier League. As runs go, that is a really good one, and we should be aiming to win every single one. The problem is, if we do well and build up more momentum, the international break at the end of November will be even more frustrating.

But at least then it’s over – no more internationals until next spring, when we’re building up to the big tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico next summer

Some of you are probably already wondering how to buy World Cup 2026 tickets, and if you manage it, you’ll have plenty of Chelsea players to look forward to seeing out there.

A number of our stars are promising to be key figures for their countries at the tournament. But they’re in a variety of different positions in terms of their standing.

Some – like Enzo Fernandez, Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo and Pedro Neto are key players whose place on the plane is already secured.

However, it’s not that simple for everyone.

Cole Palmer is in a tricky spot – he’s one of the few players likely hoping there were more games between now and the tournament. He’s featured just once for Thomas Tuchel in the year since he was appointed England coach. And his current injury may rule him out for the November break, meaning Palmer likely has just one set of friendlies with which to try and prove himself.

He will have to hope his superb form over the last two years is enough of a CV to earn him a place regardless.

But perhaps the most exciting of all is Estevao. He’s come from teenage talent to regular feature for Brazil under Carlo Ancelotti, and he’s done enough in his limited appearances to hope for a role at the tournament next summer. If he keeps building up his minutes with Chelsea this season, he could really be one of the breakout stars of the tournament.
