One of Xabi Alonso’s trusted lieutenants from his successful spell at Bayer Leverkusen got a big move to Liverpool last summer, although it hasn’t really worked out for him.
Arne Slot couldn’t work out how to get the best out of Jeremie Frimpong, and pundit Gaizka Mendieta has suggested that a move to Chelsea to link up with his old boss could be on the cards.
Frimpong a great choice – but Iraola will want to work with him

“Jeremie Frimpong could be a good asset for Xabi Alonso at Chelsea,” Mendieta said in quotes picked up by the Evening Standard.
“Managers have players they trust from previous clubs and there will be a belief from the player that they can find that form again.”
It’s a nice idea, and we’d love Frimpong as an upgrade on Malo Gusto at right back. But after just one year at Liverpool, and with an attacking manager coming in who likes to use wing backs, we don’t see the Dutchman going anywhere just yet. If Andoni Iraola also struggles to get a tune out of him, we could return to this in a year’s time…
