Some Chelsea fans are starting to get nervy about how little transfer activity we’ve seen from the Blues so far this summer.
But in reality, there’s a lot that’s already been done. Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha have been signed to arrive this summer. And there are strong rumours that Valentin Barco, from our sister club Strasbourg, is another deal which is done and just pending announcement.
Barco could be in Alonso’s plans as a full back

On the London is Blue podcast this week, insider Ben Jacobs was able to give some insight on how he thought Chelsea might be planning to use the Argentine, especially now that left back Marc Cucurella has been sold.
“His best position, his favoured position, is either in central midfield or floating over on that left hand side,” Jacobs explained.
“And as you say, he’s able to push very far forward. So that’s one creative minded player [signed this summer].
“But it wouldn’t surprise me if Xabi Alonso looks at him as a left sided full back.”
