Pete O’Rourke has been on the Football Insider transfer show, and one of the big topics of discussion was Nicolas Jackson. The journalist is convinced that the striker is going to go back to Chelsea and try to work his way into Xabi Alonso’s first team plans for this season.
Jackson happy to repair relations with Chelsea in second spell

“He’s going to return to Chelsea this pre-season and I’m sure Jackson will be looking to see if he can make an impact on Xabi Alonso,” O’Rourke said.
“It’s a clean slate for everybody at Chelsea and I’m sure Alonso will cast an eye over everybody, including Jackson, to see if they are going to play a part in his plans.”
This sounds reasonable, although it would mean that all of Jackson’s desire to leave Chelsea a year ago was down to a falling out with Enzo Maresca. That may well be true, but we’d be surprised if there hadn’t been a bit more collateral damage on both sides.
It may also end up being a marriage of convenience for both sides.
In other news…
Reece James has broken his silence on the departure of Marc Cucurella, the first Chelsea player to speak in public about what a loss that could be.
Strasbourg were apparently interested in bringing in Filipe Luis as their new manager – but it appears they waited too long in the end.
