Stunning Real Madrid statement has just dramatically changed Chelsea’s summer transfer plans

Enzo Fernandez has been doing all he can to make a Real Madrid transfer happen – so he won’t be happy about what they’ve just done.

Real Madrid have always been known for their famous “comunicado oficial” press releases. But they used to be saved for special occasions. Now they’re throwing them around almost weekly, and today’s effort involves Chelsea.

The Spanish giants have been consistently linked with transfer interest in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, who openly flirted with a move earlier this year. However, Madrid’s statement has just explicitly denied having had any contact with him or with Chelsea.

Madrid statement rules out Enzo transfer

You can see an excerpt from the statement here:

“In light of the reports and statements that have appeared in recent days regarding Real Madrid C.F.’s alleged interest in the player Enzo Fernández, the club wishes to state that it has not made any efforts, either directly or indirectly, to sign the aforementioned player and, furthermore, has no intention of undertaking such a transfer.”

It puts Enzo and his party in a very difficult position. As recently as just yesterday, his agent Javier Pastore was talking up a potential move. Now the team they’re supposed to be in talks with have flatly denied any interest in a move.

There are still other options out there – but if Madrid aren’t going to pay what Chelsea are demanding, we can’t imagine anyone else is.

In other news…

Granit Xhaka is being pursued by Chelsea, but Sunderland are very resistant to selling their captain, and have been “irritated” by our low ball bids for their star so far.

Marcel Desailly has told Chelsea to back their new manager, even if that means signing Xhaka for a hefty fee.
