The Athletic’s Deal Sheet for this week is out, containing some interesting ideas on what Chelsea’s plans for the rest of the window is.
It reminds us that there are a number of positions the club would like to strengthen, not least at centre back, where it’s claimed that “at least one centre back will join.”
Maxence Lacroix and Jacobo Ramon have both been linked extensively and are mentioned here as possible options.
Chelsea’s huge defender population must be thinned out

With “at least one” central defender coming in, we can only assume that several defenders will be leaving. We already have around ten of them on our books, depending on who you include, and if you include loans we would probably ideally like to move on about 5 of them.
The World Cup seems to be slowing things down a bit, but once it’s over we expect a lot of movement in this area. Trevoh Chalobah seems to be in talks with Inter Milan and Como, and could be the first to go. Loans for the likes of Mamadou Sarr should follow.
In other news…
The Deal Sheet also covered the major arrival of the year so far – Marco Palestra’s signing from Atalanta and what that means for the likes of Malo Gusto.
West Ham’s relegation has provided a few interesting targets for Premier League clubs, and Chelsea have now been linked with one of them.
