- Michy Batshuayi claims he was racially abused by Atalanta fans.
- Batshuayi is on-loan at Borussia Dortmund from Chelsea.
- Belgian scored twice in the first-leg against the Serie A side.
Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has taken to Twitter to claim that he was racially abused during Borussia Dortmund’s Europa League clash with Atalanta.
Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw by the Serie A outfit on the second-leg, but progressed to the next round having won on aggregate.
On February 15th, Batshuayi scored twice during the first-leg to ensure that his side were victorious. He was unable to find the back of the net on Thursday night, but that hasn’t stopped him writing the headlines.
The Belgian took to Twitter following the game to reveal that he was racially abused by Atalanta fans during the game.
It’s 2018 – there is no place for this sort of behaviour in society, nor in football. Batshuayi is a young player with a prosperous career ahead of him, he deserves far more respect than he has been given by this disgusting minority.
We hope that the fans responsible are punished by both Atalanta and UEFA. They should never been allowed to step foot into a football ground again.
They have history, too. This isn’t a one-off incident.
