We wrote yesterday about the way that Enzo Maresca’s move to Man City has been dragging on, and it seems we weren’t the only ones to notice.

TeamTalk today have a report that City are “annoyed and frustrated” by Chelsea’s handling of the situation. Maresca was the Blues boss until January, when he walked out. The club, understandably, feel he can’t unilaterally breach his contract, and are expecting a payout from City, reported as potentially as high as £10m.

We’re not surprised that City are frustrated that Chelsea are making things difficult. We’re also not surprised that Chelsea are doing just that. They don’t have much recourse here, and they couldn’t stop Maresca walking away. They can do their best to get some payback, however, given they consider Maresca’s departure a major reason for why last season ended up as it did.

We’re sure it will resolve itself for too long – but it’s all adding spice to the situation for next season when the two clubs face each other, with no love lost between them.

In other news…

Nicolas Jackson is closer than ever to staying put as an option for Chelsea next season, as least from what we read of the situation.

Chelsea are not moving as fast as some of their transfer rivals, and that’s getting fans agitated across the board.
