Chelsea suffered a major injury blow during their clash with Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
Alvaro Morata has scarcely put a foot wrong since his arrival at Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window. In his first eight appearances in a Chelsea shirt, the Spain international found the back of the net on seven occasions.
It’s for that reason that it’s such a blow to the Premier League champions that he had to be withdrawn against Man City and headed straight down the tunnel holding his hamstring. He was replaced by Willian, leaving Michy Batshuayi out in the cold.
At this early stage it is unclear how serious Morata’s hamstring injury is, but it seems unlikely that he will be jetting off to meet up with his Spain teammates over the international break.
We keep our fingers crossed that it’s nothing serious, because he has been absolutely phenomenal so far this season.
