Alvaro Morata is yet to complete his transfer to Atletico Madrid, yet a group of the supporters at the Wanda Metropolitano are already singing against him!
Alvaro Morata’s time as a Chelsea player is coming to an end. We earlier reported that there are some difficulties in negotiations between us and Atletico, but the deal is still expected to go through before the transfer window comes to a close later this month.
Morata is set to embark on the next chapter of his career as an Atletico player. He may well be familiar with the city of Madrid, but it’s a whole new challenge for him. We believe that, despite his struggles here, he can revive his career with Atleti. Their fans, though, aren’t convinced.
According to AS, during the first-half of Atletico’s clash with Getafe earlier on Saturday, chants of “Less Morata, more Borja Garcés” could be heard ringing around the stadium. Though the report claims that other fans whistled at the chant, a significant amount joined in to air their displeasure.
Borja Garcés is a 19-year-old academy product who has only ever made one La Liga appearance. Chelsea fans would have hoped to see Callum Hudson-Odoi ahead of Morata in the starting eleven at times, so this ought to be a familiar feeling for the Spaniard. Sorry, Alvaro!
