Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has insisted that he’s happy at Chelsea, and also confirmed that he will not be leaving in January.
Fabregas’ contract comes to an end in the summer of 2019. That means he can not only sign for any interested parties on a free at that time, but he can also strike an agreement to leave Chelsea as soon as the January transfer window.
The World Cup winner may not have played a considerable role this season under Maurizio Sarri, but he proved against PAOK last night that he still possesses the unparalleled passing ability which made him one of the best midfielders in the world during his prime.
We’d like to see Fabregas stay. The squad is stronger with him in it. He appears undecided on where his future lies beyond this season, but is insistent that he will not betray his teammates by leaving midway through the season.
Fabregas is quoted by Standard Sport saying:
“No, I haven’t spoken to anyone. Obviously in January I can sign with whoever I want (a pre-contract agreement for the summer) and probably this will attract many clubs. ”
“But so far, from what I can say right now, yes I will stay here until the end of the season. I play at Stamford Bridge, I’m happy, but of course every player wants to play more.”
