  • Willian and Caballero both rated 8 in eventful FA Cup replay win over Norwich
  • Pedro and Alvaro Morata sent off by referee Graham Scott
  • Next FA Cup fixture for Chelsea is against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea scraped their way from the spot in a match that had almost everything as the Blues advanced to the fourth-round of the FA Cup against Norwich City.

The first half had little drama and entertainment compared to the second half and extra-time with the home side finishing the game with nine men.

It looked like Michy Batshuayi’s close range goal would be enough for the champions to win the match.

The same resilient and determined Norwich side got their reward with a last minute winner as we were asleep in conceding the goal.

From penalty shouts to red cards, extra-time was nothing short of eventful as Pedro and Alvaro Morata were sent off.

Much to the anger of the home fans, referee Graham Scott had a poor game with the new VAR system being ineffective. Morata’s sending off came after he tumbled down in the box too easily for Scott’s liking and the Spaniard didn’t do himself any favours with a furious reaction.

The one penalty shout that really should have gone in favour of Chelsea was when Willian was clipped in the box. However, Scott was the villain for the Stamford Bridge faithful, instead giving the winger a booking for simulation.

If the referee did get one moment in the game correct, it was awarding Pedro two yellow cards, one for a clear dive and the other for a reckless challenge.

In what should have been a plain sailing tie, we finally advanced in the competition after Eden Hazard’s winning penalty. Willy Caballero definitely deserves a mention for some important saves in normal time and stopping Norwich’s first spot kick.

Chelsea’s upcoming opponent in the FA Cup is Newcastle United where the game will also take place at the Bridge.

Here are our player ratings from the penalty shootout win against Norwich City:

Caballero 8, Azpilicueta 6, Ampadu 5, David Luiz 5, Zappacosta 5, Drinkwater 6, Bakayoko 6, Kenedy 6, Pedro 2, Batshuayi 5, Willian 8. Subs: Kante 5, Hazard 5, Morata 2
