Chelsea have reportedly added two names to their list of candidates to replace Antonio Conte as manager this summer.

Despite tasting success in the FA Cup at the tail end of the season, there is no getting away from the fact that it was a campaign riddled with failure. After an encouraging first-leg, we rolled over to Barcelona in the Champions League, as well as finishing fifth in the Premier League.

It was, quite frankly, not good enough, Conte will likely pay the price for his shortfalls. Maurizio Sarri has been considered the frontrunner to replace his compatriot for some time now. The move, though, is yet to progress, Conte remains in charge.

According to Yahoo Sport‘s Duncan Castles, Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli and Brazil boss Tite are being considered as ‘low-cost’ options to replace Conte, who could cost up to ¬£10M to part with this summer.

Some may feel that neither have the managerial pedigree required to take on the hefty task at hand at Stamford Bridge. As shown all those years ago with Luiz Felipe Scolari, success at international level does not guarantee success with a club-side. We ought to be wary.
