Frank Lampard’s return to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday day is what has dominated the headlines ahead of this game, but we ought to remember that there’s a game of football to play – and Chelsea will be wanting to win it.
Maurizio Sarri has never won a piece of silverware during his managerial career. Though the Carabao Cup is not high on the list of priorities for Chelsea fans, with the Premier League and Europa League occupying the forefront of our minds, he’ll be wanting to win it.
Sarri can take another step forward to doing so with victory over EFL Championship outfit Derby under the lights at the Bridge tomorrow. Though we would expect him to heavily rotate the team, it will be a side strong enough to get the job done.
Interestingly, the supposed ‘bib team’ in Chelsea training included academy product Callum Hudson-Odoi, who was arguably our best player throughout pre-season. See below the full starting eleven. SURELY Andreas Christensen will be involved?

Zappacosta, Cahill, Luiz, Alonso
Drinkwater, Fabregas, Kovacic
Moses, Morata, Hudson-Odoi*I’m not saying this will be the team tomorrow but that’s what it was in training
