Marina Granovskaia is reportedly standing firm on their contract policy for over 30s – which could see Willian leave the club this summer.
The club are clearly not keen on having players enter the swansong of their careers earning megabucks on the Chelsea bench. It’s happened too many times before. Roman Abramovich will have had enough of seeing his money going down the toilet.
As a result of past mistakes, Chelsea have decided against handing players over the age of 30 anything more than a one-year contract extension. It has spelled the end for the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole. We certainly won’t budge for Willian.
According to Standard Sport, that’s what the Brazilian is hoping we do, but he’s got a tough ask convincing Marina to abandon her policy for him. He has less than 18-months remaining on his Chelsea contract. This could spell the end for him here
As noted by Standard Sport, Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain have all been linked with Willian over the past year. It seems likely that we’d still get a decent fee in exchange for him in the summer if the decision was made that he’d be off.
What a load of … Why is age above skill and fitness ?? … Some players in the EPL are still reaching their peak well after 30.
Not sure about age constraints depends on the player and position. Generally Willian performances are trending the wrong way physically he looks fit but his decision making is on the wane.
