Chelsea fans have turned on David Luiz following a despicable first-half display against Tottenham at Wembley.
Maurizio Sarri has shown a lot of faith in Luiz this season. The Brazilian was shunned by Antonio Conte, but has been offered a life-line by Sarri. The gaffer must be wondering why he even bothered while watching today’s game.
Luiz is suspect defensively. We’ve known that his entire career, but the sheer extent of his shortfalls has been exposed for the world to see today. Time and time again his inability to perform the basics of defending allowed Spurs to break our back-line.
The part he played in Harry Kane’s goal was absolutely shocking, too. Luiz moved out of the way of Kane’s shot, leaving Kepa Arrizabalaga wrong-footed, and watched the ball nestle in the bottom corner of the Chelsea goal.
He’s been absolutely dreadful, and Chelsea fans on Twitter have not held back. Have a look at this…

Yeah dreadful Luiz!!!! What was he doing throughout the 90 minutes? Let alone the 8 goals he has cost us in the season so far. I cannot bear seeing him in a Chelsea shirt again
