Chelsea have been handed a boost ahead of our clash with Everton at the weekend in the shape of Richarlison’s potential absence.
Eyebrows were raised when Everton broke the bank to sign the Brazilian in the summer, but he has put any doubts to bed with his superb performances so far this season.
Richarlison has not only emerged as Everton’s star performer, but also a full international for Brazil. His rise to the top has been rather extraordinary.
Maurizio Sarri will have been wary of the threat that he poses while preparing for Sunday’s game, but he need not worry. Marco Silva has revealed that it’s doubtful Richarlison will be fit to feature in the game.
Though this is hardly official confirmation, it’s a strong insinuation that Richarlison will not be fighting fit when the Toffees take to the turf at Stamford Bridge – which is good news from a Chelsea perspective.
Silva is quoted by the Metro saying:
“We will see tomorrow. He is in doubt for the match. Let’s see how he will react after the individual work he did this morning. If he’s not fit it’s a good opening for another player to play in that position.”
We’d NEVER wish injury upon a footballer, but we’ll shed no tears if Richarlison is forced to watch this one from the sidelines!
