Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard are not due to return to Chelsea for another three-weeks. That’s essentially the remainder of the summer window.
Remember, this year’s transfer window closes on August 9th, just before the start of the new Premier League campaign.
It is a little frustrating for fans. There’s an element of the drama taken away, though it may play into our hands this time around.
Courtois and Hazard have been heavily linked with Real Madrid. Following recent comments from the pair, both their futures are under the spotlight.
However, as Standard Sport report, they are not due to return for training for another three-weeks.
The pair may be reluctant to make a final decision on their futures before talking with Maurizio Sarri about his plans, and the club about possible terms of a new contract.
By the time they return, the transfer window will be on the verge of closing.
Though Real Madrid will still be able to place bids for them beyond that date, Chelsea would not green-light their exits while unable to secure replacements.
Chelsea may well have inadvertently done themselves a solid here.
