Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that the damage done to Mateo Kovacic against Cardiff City was not severe.
When Kovacic limped off early in the second half and was replaced by Ross Barkley, Chelsea fans feared that the Real Madrid loanee was set for a spell on the sidelines.
Following the game, Sarri moved to ease those fears, confirming that Kovacic is not seriously injured.

We have a wealth of options in midfield, especially with Cesc Fabregas set to return to action. Despite that, losing a player of Kovacic’s quality for any period of time would be a blow.
Premier League titles are often won and lost depending on the fitness of key players. Thankfully, we’re not going to be knocked off the top spot as a result of a Kovacic injury. He’s fine!
The Croatian could be involved as Chelsea take on PAOK in the Europa League group stage on Thursday. Though, it seems likely Sarri will give him a chance to rest.
