Chelsea have suffered a setback in their reported pursuit of Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci.

Bonucci has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world in recent seasons, and according to The Sun, his good performances have captured the attention of former manager Antonio Conte.

However, convincing Juventus to part with Bonucci will not be straightforward, and it doesn’t appear as though he has any interest in leaving Turin any time soon.

The Sun quote Bonucci, who reaffirms his willingness to stay at Juventus:

“As far as my future is concerned I have a contract until 2021, and I only renewed it a little while ago.I hear so much talk about what will happen with me.  But it takes two to make a marriage – and myself and Juventus will seek to carry ours forward.”

If at any point Bonucci does change his mind, Chelsea will also face stern competition for his signature. The Sun report that both Manchester United and Manchester City will go head-to-head with the Blues in the race to sign the Italy international. The tabloid also believe that he is rated at a whopping £50million by Juventus.

With Kurt Zouma and Nathan Ake already being starved of game-time, and Andreas Christensen returning in the summer – we may well be better off sticking with what we’ve got.
