Chelsea recorded a significant victory over Watford last Saturday – but Antonio Conte has revealed that his side did not train to prepare for the game!
The Blues struggled midway through the game, but goals from Michy Batshuayi and Cesar Azpilicueta were enough for us to secure all three points.
With games coming in thick and fast in all four competitions we find ourselves in a situation where the schedule seems racked up for the thin squad we possess.
Conte will be feeling the heat by now, and in all fairness, he predicted it was going to be a difficult season, as the Telegraph reported earlier this month.. His charges still trail the Manchester clubs on the league standings, we stand tall in Group C of the Champions League and are holding firm in the Carabao Cup.
Having played on Wednesday in the Champions League, a game which came only three days after our game against Crystal Palace last weekend, Conte had little time to prepare for Watford, despite our resounding 4-2 win.
Conte is quoted by the London Evening Standard saying:
“I have to try to improve the situation. We have to continue to work. When you play every three days it’s very difficult to work on tactical aspects and physical aspects and pay attention to every detail.”
“Sometimes you have to play a game without training. Yesterday, for example, I say we are working 70 per cent less than last season but it is normal this.”
“We have to try to find the solution to be more solid. We have to try find the way to recover the injured players very soon.”
We next face Everton in the Football League Cup before taking on Bournemouth on Saturday. Three days later we would take on AS Roma as well in the Champions League
