Chelsea defender David Luiz has hit back at those who criticised him following his poor performance against Tottenham last weekend.

Luiz was certainly not the only poor performer at Wembley, but some would argue that he played a considerable role in all three goals we conceded.

He conceded the free-kick from which Spurs scored their first. He then moved out the way of Harry Kane’s goal-bound effort, and his ‘efforts’ at dispossessing Heung-min Son for the third were utterly laughable.

Whether he deserves to retain his starting spot is up for debate, but Luiz’s stance is clear. He believes that the criticism he has come under is unfair, and took to the Instagram comments section to share that view.

Have a look at this…

Some would argue that this is a little unprofessional, but Luiz is well within his rights to stand up for himself. In fact, this mentality of his is why he has been able to have such a decorated career at the top level.

Do you believe it’s time for Luiz to drop to the bench, Blues? Let us know your thoughts on Twitter @TalkChelsea.

I think the defensive line it’s not the problem, the real issue is jorginho who seems an open gate on the backyard…….no defensive line in this game can deal with that, even Juventus, Madrid or mancity can play properly with such a leake in the defensive midfield ….
