Eden Hazard has confirmed that he picked up an injury during Chelsea’s 3-1 loss to Tottenham, but has been quick to reassure Chelsea fans that the damage done is nothing serious.
With the game already lost you could be forgiven for thinking that Maurizio Sarri would take Hazard off in order to ensure he doesn’t hurt himself, but our manager wasn’t prepared to accept defeat, even when 3-0 down.
Though his attitude is commendable, Sarri will probably be left ruing the fact that he didn’t take his chance to rest Hazard, with the 27-year-old hurting his ankle under a strong challenge from Spurs right-back Serge Aurier.
Hazard shed some light on his injury following the game. Though he confirmed that he didn’t escape from the tackle unscathed, he also moved to dispel speculation that he was set for a considerable spell on the sidelines.
He’s quoted by the Metro saying:
“My injury I think is not something bad. I think I just twisted my ankle, but it’s like every game, it’s the same. I am used to (it) and I will be back soon.”
We need Hazard at his best if we want to have any hope of finishing inside the top four. Let’s hope he’s right and his ankle is fine. Regardless, he should play no part in the PAOK game on Thursday.
