There are several Chelsea players in the CIES Football Observatory‘s latest report of the most valuable footballers in the world.

The lowest ranked Chelsea player in CIES’ top 110 is Antonio Rudiger, who is ranked 100th with a value of £38.2M. As per the BBC, the deal to take Rudiger from AS Roma to Stamford Bridge will set us back £33.3M at most, so we may well have got ourselves a bargain.

In 86th place is Tiemoue Bakayoko. Sky Sports believe that we are close to signing the Frenchman for a fee in the region of £35M-£40M. As per CIES, Bakayoko’s actual market value stands at £41.1M – so it could be another piece of shrewd business from Chelsea.

Ranked as the 84th most valuable player in the world by CIES is Willian, who is believed to be worth £41.4M, a few hundred thousand pounds more than potential future teammate Bakayoko.

In 79th, £100K shy of Thomas Muller, is Gary Cahill (yes, really). CIES have calculated that the stand-in Chelsea skipper is worth £43.7M in the current market. When Cahill signed for the club in 2012, the BBC reported that we only forked out £7M for him!

Cesar Azpilicueta, who in our blue-tinted opinion is the best defender in the Premier League, is thought to be worth a whopping £48.9M by CIES. At least. He comes in at 65th.

Next up, ranked in 42nd by CIES with an estimated market value of £59.2M is Thibaut Courtois. That seems cheap for a goalkeeper of his quality and tender age.

FWA, PFA and PL player of the year N’Golo Kante is in 30th place in CIES’ rankings. They believe that after a stellar campaign in a Chelsea shirt, the France international is now valued at £70.2M. When Kante moved to Stamford Bridge last summer, the BBC reported that we paid a fee in the region of £30M for him – bargain!

Ranked in 23rd by CIES, and the second most valuable Chelsea player, is Diego Costa. CIES believe that the fiery Spaniard is worth an eye-watering £73.9M. The Independent believe that Atletico Madrid are ‘desperate’ to sign Costa this summer, we ought to show them this report. Get your chequebook out, lads.

Now, what you’ve all been waiting for, numero uno. We imagine you can already guess who it is – Eden Hazard. CIES have ranked Hazard as the 9th most valuable player on the planet, and he could set any potential suitors back as much as £104M. That would be a new world-record fee, £15M more than the BBC reported Manchester United paid for Paul Pogba around about a year ago.

Here’s the top nine most valuable Chelsea players according to CIES. (With Bakayoko included, just for good measure):

1 – Eden Hazard (£104M)
2 – Diego Costa (£73.9M)
3 – N’Golo Kante (£70.2M)
4 – Thibaut Courtois (£59.2M)
5 – Cesar Azpilicueta (£48.9M)
6 – Gary Cahill (£43.7M)
7 – Willian (£41.4M)
8 – Tiemoue Bakayoko (£41.1M)
9 – Antonio Rudiger (£38.2M)
