Fernando Torres’ flatlining career takes another turn for the worse

It’s safe to say that Fernando Torres’ time at Chelsea was not much of a success on a personal level.

The Spaniard was involved in triumphs in the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League. The primary motivator for his move to Stamford Bridge was to win trophies – and he did.

However, Torres was unable to replicate the goal-scoring exploits, which convinced Roman Abramovich to splash a club-record fee on him, during his time in a Chelsea shirt.

Torres will go down as one of the biggest flops in Premier League history, even if there is a place in the heart of every Chelsea fan for ‘El Niño’.

This don’t appear to be getting any easier for Torres having departed Chelsea, either.

The Metro report that Diego Simeone was quizzed during a press conference whether he would do everything in his power to ensure Torres is granted a contract extension with Atletico Madrid.

Simeone answered, pretty bluntly – “No.”
