Gary Cahill has sent out a classy message to former Hull City midfielder Ryan Mason after he was forced to retire from professional football.
In January 2017, Cahill and Mason were involved in a collision which left the latter with a fractured skull. He was forced to undergo surgery, and has been continuing his recovery ever since.
Unfortunately, the ex-Tottenham man was forced to retire from football this week as a result of the injury. Cahill may, in some part, feel at fault for the damage done to Mason’s skull, but it was a freak incident, he’s not to blame.
Despite that, Cahill has taken to Twitter to offer some words of support to Mason after hearing the news that he called time on his playing career.
Devastated to hear today’s news from Ryan. Competing for a corner is something we’ve done thousands of times and to see those consequences for a top professional like Ryan is heartbreaking. Sending all my love to him and his family, and wishing him the best for the future.

Mason is only 26-years-old, he has a bright future ahead of him. Hopefully he is able to have a successful career ahead of him in coaching or punditry.
