Speaking to the media following Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Malmo, Callum Hudson-Odoi didn’t rule out earning himself a start on Sunday.
Hudson-Odoi has been waiting patiently for Maurizio Sarri to budge on his continual stubbornness and give him an opportunity to start from the beginning. At least, that’s what it’s appeared from the outside looking in, there’s probably been one or two temper tantrums behind the scenes.
He did get a chance to start tonight and few would argue that he justified Sarri’s decision. Not only did he score a brilliant goal, but he was causing the Malmo defence problems all night long. He now appears to be hoping to be handed a start in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
🎙 @ReshminTV “Do you feel you’ve staked a claim for Sunday with a performance like that?”
Hudson-Odoi: “I don’t know, hopefully I did well.”
Giroud: “He’s so humble!”

Having already lost to Man City this month, and heavily, you’d like to think that Sarri will be tempted to change it up on Sunday. If he is hoping to in hope of a positive result from his players, he could do far worse than starting Hudson-Odoi. Who knows, it could be HIS chance to show everyone what he can do.
