Ok Frank Lampard after the game, said in the post match interview that he was pleased with the performance from Chelsea. He liked the reaction he saw after the Boxing Day defeat to Arsenal.
To an extent, there was more commitment from the Blues. They certainly deserved a draw, but whether they did enough to win the game is certainly a question to ask. There was too much sideways passing, and in the 88th minute, Christensen and Rudiger were passing the ball between themselves with no urgency.
A part of that has to be blamed on his selection, with Jorginho, Christensen, and Rudiger content circulating the ball between themselves and not trying the high risk – high reward passes that are necessary when pushing for a win.
He can be pleased with the reaction, but definitely can’t be satisfied with the result. As Sir Alex Ferguson said, a team can’t win the title in the Christmas run in, but can lose it, and that is what seems to be happening with Chelsea.
