Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that Alvaro Morata is fit to face Watford in the Premier League this evening.
Morata suffered a knee injury after an awkward landing against MOL Vidi in Hungary. He hasn’t featured since, not that he probably would have been starting anyway.
Sarri has experimented with Eden Hazard in the false 9 role, with mixed success. This has left Olivier Giroud out in the cold, with question marks emerging over whether Morata has a role to play in the Chelsea squad any longer.
We may well get an indication of Sarri’s plans for Morata this evening, with Chelsea travelling to Vicarage Road to face Watford on Boxing Day.
Sarri is expected to rotate his side, and has confirmed Morata’s availability ahead of the fixture. He’s quoted by the official club website saying:
“Yesterday he started to have training with the group so I think he will be able to play.”
