Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Eden Hazard is yet to make a definitive decision over his future at Chelsea, but the Belgian remains in discussions with the club.
At a time of uncertainty at the club, we could really do with an answer from Eden. Maurizio Sarri’s situation at the helm is far from precarious, but he’ll be heading down a dark road if he continues to make the same mistakes game after game.
What he needs is Eden Hazard at the top of his game, which he has been at times this season, but there is no guarantee that he’ll be on our books beyond the summertime. Real Madrid’s interest refuses to be tamed, nor does Hazard’s desire to join them.
Speaking on the topic during his pre-Tottenham press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Sarri confirmed that no decision has been made by Hazard over his future. Though, he remains in talks with Chelsea, which is a good sign. He’s quoted by Standard Sport saying:
“I know very well that he is discussing with the club, but I don’t know anything else at the moment. I think that he has not decided yet if he wants to stay here or if he wants a new experience in another club.”
“I don’t know exactly the situation, but I think that Eden, at the moment, doesn’t know the final choice.”
This situation is growing tiresome, but there will be no resolution until the summer. Chelsea will either be forced to cash-in, or Hazard will see the light and sign an extension. We face a nervous wait to find out how this saga is going to end.
