Fitness and injuries have been an everlasting issue for Chelsea this season as three players are definitely out for Sunday’s match against Newcastle United.
When speaking in his press conference on Friday, Antonio Conte couldn’t set a date for when Alvaro Morata, Thibaut Courtois and Willian would return from injury.
“Morata has this problem in his back, and Courtois took a kick in his ankle. I don’t know how close they are to returning.”
The Italian also gave more details of Willian’s condition after suffering a hamstring injury early in the 2-1 Carabao Cup loss against Arsenal on Wednesday.
“Today with the doctor he had a scan to evaluate his injury, but I don’t think we are talking about a serious injury.”
There was good news for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who could feature for the game against the Magpies, as Conte reports.
“Fabregas trained today with us, and tomorrow I will check his physical condition. It’s good news for us.”

Youngsters likely to be utilised for FA Cup tie
Players like Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ethan Ampadu and Charly Musonda have a good chance of getting valuable minutes on Sunday.
The silver lining to these injuries does give our second-string players an opportunity to make an impression on Conte. Hopefully they can make the most of it.
