Newly promoted Newcastle are interested in signing Chelsea academy product Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a season-long loan, according to the Daily Mail.
Loftus-Cheek has been kept as part of the Chelsea first-team squad for two consecutive seasons now, but has been starved of any genuine opportunities.
The next natural step for the youngster is a loan to a Premier League side, where he will be given the opportunity to play regularly and continue his development. It looks as though he could get his wish.
As per the Daily Mail, Newcastle are keen to secure Loftus-Cheek’s services on a temporary basis. A spell at St. James’ Park could provide the Englishmen with the perfect platform to showcase his talent.
The tabloid note that Nathaniel Chalobah, who came up through the academy ranks alongside Loftus-Cheek, could be on his way to Watford in a cut-price, £5M deal. What a shame it would be to see him depart.
