Thomas Tuchel’s unbeaten run of 14 games have seen him record a managerial stint never seen before in Chelsea history.
He has uplifted the morale of the team and registered an amazing run of results which have the players buzzing with confidence.
One of them is Mateo Kovacic. The Croat has been an ever-present presence in the German’s line up, establishing a midfield hegemony with N’Golo Kante & Jorginho in the center of the pitch.
Speaking to Chelsea TV in an exclusive, the enigmatic central midfielder hailed Tuchel’s presence in the dugout. He said:
“The new manager has come in, with clear ideas of what he wants and the team responded very, very well to all that he asked of us in how he wants to play.”
He also noted how unpredictable football, but is now confident of a positive finish to a very mixed season for the Blues.”
“In football, if you approach the games and train well, everything can change in one or two weeks, and that’s what happened. We were 10th and I was really a little bit worried as well because, to be in that position and to not reach the top four, would be a bad, bad season for us.
But now we have come back, and we need to have the same approach as we did before – train good, approach every game well and I hope it will end well for us this season,” he said.
Chelsea face West Bromwich Albion when the season resumes after the first international break of 2021.
The Blues then go face-to-face in arguably a season-defining two-legged encounter against Port in the Champions League last 8.
