Year after year in recent times we have been calling for Chelsea players to play with more passion, more desire, and we as fans have craved for more leadership on the pitch.
Whenever someone talked about this we always referred to the days of John Terry, Didier Drogba, Ashley Cole, and Frank Lampard himself as the perfect examples.
The squad that they played in were massively successful, and a big part of that was the collective team spirit they had in the squad, the belief in each other, and the high morale in camp.
We can finally say with our current squad that we are starting to see signs of this returning. Something this season just looks and feels different, there seems to be a real mutual respect between players, and they all rate each others abilities massively.
When you see the banter at training, the way they celebrate goals together, how pleased they are when a team mate gets a goal or does something good that they have deserved and worked hard for – it really looks like such a strong collective family-type unit.
The new signings have come in and instantly fit in with the current players, and they are playing with real confidence right now.
If they can keep this up and work hard at getting even more consistent on the pitch, then there is no reason why this group cannot be up their at the end of this season seriously challenging for the Premier League title.
