Chelsea take on Burnley at Stamford Bridge tonight, and after a hectic period of games, Maurizio Sarri has the chance to pick his favoured XI, with a 6 day gap before our next match.
That means changes all over, but the question will be what happens at left back.
Emerson has been the first choice option, and a recent injury to Alonso has meant a string of starts for the Italian-Brazilian, including on Thursday night.
Sarri would probably like to rest him now, and if Alonso is back fit we expect to see him start tonight, regardless of whether the gaffer still sees Emerson as his first choice.
The extra height that Alonso provides in defence, which Sarri has specifically mentioned before, also adds weight to the argument for including him against an aerial focused team like Burnley.
So don’t panic if you see Alonso in the XI tonight, we still are backing Sarri to stick with Emerson against Man United on Sunday.
