As Chelsea go head-to-head with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening, Antonio Conte is likely to rotate heavily in order to prioritise the more important matches that lie ahead on the schedule. Here’s three youngsters that could benefit from Conte shuffling the pack.
Christensen may well start all three of Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures in David Luiz’s absence, but even if the Brazilian didn’t see red against Arsenal, you would expect Christensen to start in this one. He has already started two competitive games for the Blues since returning from his two-year stint at Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer – you would expect this to be the third.
Musonda was introduced as a substitute in the Community Shield and opening day defeat to Burnley, but hasn’t been seen since. The Belgian was kept behind by Conte in the summer opposed to being shipped out on loan, but has yet to be given any sort of an opportunity to impress. This fixture could be the perfect chance for him to make his first start in a Chelsea shirt.
After all the controversy during our pre-season tour in Asia, Kenedy was sent home and hasn’t featured since. However, he was included in our Premier League and Champions League squads, and has been training with the first-team since the start of the season. He could be used at left-wing-back to give Marcos Alonso a much needed breather.
